Badly Burned Long Island Dog Succumbs To Injuries (WCBS-TV New York) - "Maximus," a mixed breed that suffered severe burns after someone chained him to a tree, doused him with gasoline, and set him on fire, has died. The badly burned animal was found by a Brentwood resident and taken immediately to the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island for emergency care last week, but he died on Tuesday morning.
